Visual Effects Society to use Sohonet Solution for 2017 VES Awards Submission Process

The Visual Effects Society has again turned to Sohonet to manage and provide an end-to-end online submission system for the 15th Annual VES Awards. Sohonet has had the pleasure of both sponsoring the annual judging event in London and managing the submission process globally for the last eight years. We are proud to support a body that recognizes and honors the most outstanding visual effects work of the year. Sohonet’s QC (Quality Control) system has enabled the submissions of over 500 VES award entries to the Visual Effects Society this year and ensured the delivery of high-quality viewings at the judging events held on January 7th in several locations across the globe. The electronic process has significantly increased the number of applications over the years, as nominees benefit from lower preparation and transportation costs and greater accessibility for all. The state-of-the-art QC System automatically alerts nominees if submitted material does not meet the VES Award’s specification including image codec, audio codec, image resolution, etc. Proxies are also created for each nomination, so that VES committee members across the globe can easily and securely review submissions to ensure conformance with the category entered, without having to worry about the technical compliance. Sohonet provided the entered material at the various international nomination events on the 7th January 2017. This entailed the management and distribution of 24 hours worth of material on the same day across different time zones. The 15th Annual VES Awards will be held on Tuesday, 7th February 2017 at the Beverley Hilton Hotel in Los Angeles.
