We’re thrilled to announce that The Visual Effects Society has again chosen to partner with Sohonet to manage and provide an end-to-end online submission system for the 16th Annual VES Awards which takes place at the Beverly Hilton this February 13th.
Sohonet has had the pleasure of both sponsoring the annual judging event in London and managing the submission process globally for the past nine years. Our QC system has successfully enabled the submissions of over 500 VES award entries to the Visual Effects Society this year and ensured the delivery of high-quality viewings at the nomination judgings held over one day in several locations across the globe.
Sohonet will provide the entered material at the various international nomination events on the 13th January 2017 and manage the distribution of 24 hours worth of material on the same day across different time zones.
As Jeff Okun, VES Chair commented back in 2015, this electronic process has significantly increased the number of applications over the years. The state-of-the-art QC System automatically alerts nominees if the submitted material does not meet the VES Award’s specification including image codec, audio codec, image resolution, etc. Proxies are also created for each nomination, so that VES committee members across the globe can easily and securely review submissions to ensure conformance with the category entered, without having to worry about the technical compliance.
This specifically designed QC System designed to meet this issues faced by the likes of VES has now evolved into Sohonet’s media-optimized file transfer tool, FileRunner which allows users to send files of unlimited size through the browser. FileRunner is being used by some of the largest content creators in Media & Entertainment.
We would also like to take this opportunity to congratulate this year’s honorees:

Favreau’s credits include the Oscar Winning hit, The Jungle Book, Elf, Iron Man and the upcoming Disney live-action feature, The Lion King.
