The esteemed public broadcaster gave the green light to a remote post operation by late 2019 but also have decided to base its strategy on Sohonet’s ClearView Flex.

Challenge

As part of a wider upgrade and redevelopment of its production hub in Alexandria, Virginia – PBS took the decision to physically separate their editors in the post facility from producers away from the main headquarters in Alexandria. The initial plan was for PBS to use ClearView Flex in house / at HQ in order to allow users to fully understand the new workflow before relocating  post production resources to Alexandria. Then COVID 19 hit causing uncertainty.

Solution

Senior Director of Media Production Operations at PBS, Brian M. Jones, states that the roll out Sohonet’s ClearView Flex ensured that after six weeks of still working on site, editors were also able to work from home with the ability to play back content from the on – prem Avid Media Composers.

Result

PBS’ embrace of ClearView Flex ensures that both creative and operational teams were given the flexibility to collaborate from a “home edit capability” that wasn’t available prior to “acquiring ClearView.”
