Somebody once said that working in Film and TV is like running away to join the circus, only with fewer elephants. And more coffee. (Actually, we just made that up, but it sounds about right.) It takes real passion for the customer, for the process and for the technology that helps create the movies, shows and ads that your friends will be talking about next month or next year.
We are born problem solvers. It’s what gets us out of bed in the morning. Sometimes it gets us out of bed in the middle of the night, too.
We don’t take ourselves too seriously, but there is something that fuels our work:
We believe that that we will revolutionize the way storytellers create content by making collaboration seamless and more secure.
Here’s a peek at what the day-to-day looks like at Sohonet.
Why Work Here?
Our Technology Stack
Sohonet was started in 1995 by a group of London-based post production facilities as a research project to explore the benefits and opportunities of high-speed connectivity..
Creating its own private network, Sohonet was able to significantly improve productivity by simplifying and accelerating workflows. Sohonet is now a privately owned company, following an MBO in 2003.
Since then, Sohonet has grown its network operations internationally and is renowned for creating the world’s largest independent media network. With offices in the UK (Soho and Pinewood Studios), Los Angeles and Sydney, our ever evolving and expansive Global Reach allows us to provide services to all major production centres worldwide.
Our product development team builds and delivers solutions that leverage this media network and our media industry expertise to deliver best-in-class solutions for our customers. The team prides itself on working practices that deliver the greatest value for our customers. We manage ourselves according to the principles of Lean, and we build great software by adhering to Scrum and Test-Driven Development.
Sohonet has been a technology driven company since its inception – consistently expanding and developing its systems, software and hardware to ensure it keeps ahead of the changing requirements of the media industry. Our principal team has extensive experience in applying technology to media production so that we always offer unrivalled knowledge to our customer base.
We are global experts in connectivity and data management services focusing exclusively on the media and entertainment industry. Basically, we allow creatives to collaborate on content wherever they are in the world. We do this by providing an extensive range of solutions which enable them to manage and transfer valuable and critical content quickly, securely and effectively, all backed up by our unrivaled technical support. Our Media Network is the largest and most established private, high-performance network for the media industry connecting the leading studios, production and post-production facilities around the world.
We have offices in the coolest media hubs in the world: London, Los Angeles, Sydney, Atlanta and Vancouver (with a couple of new ones in the works) and we are present in more than 25 other cities around the world looking after the needs of media & entertainment companies working in production, post production and distribution of feature films, television and advertising content.
We’re driven by a passion for what we do: We take our work and that of our customers seriously, but we don’t take ourselves too seriously. Each day, there are plenty of opportunities to roll up our sleeves and rise to the challenges that come at us. That means we are always on the lookout for the right mix of smarts, experience, attitude, attention to detail and humor. Each of us brings something unique to the team, and working together we aim to create the incredible for our customers.
Every. Single. Day.
