Sohonet + BIND Studio: Your Questions, Answered

Last week we announced the expansion of our partnership with BIND Studio. Since then we've had plenty of questions from VFX teams, producers, post supervisors, and about what it is, who it's for, and how it works. Here are the answers.

What is the Sohonet and BIND Studio partnership?

It's a joint offering that gives productions everything they need to stand up and run a VFX pipeline through a single relationship. BIND's end-to-end VFX production platform, covering data management, vendor collaboration, workstations, storage, pipeline, and rendering, is now available directly through Sohonet, combined with our secure file transfer (FileRunner), real-time remote review (ClearView Flex), and Media Fabric managed infrastructure underneath it all.

What problem does it solve?

Standing up a VFX project has traditionally meant assembling infrastructure, storage, software, transfer tools, review tools, rendering, and the expertise to hold it all together. Every one of those is a decision, a procurement cycle, and an integration risk, and productions carry that burden before a single shot is turned over.

This partnership collapses all of it into one decision. Productions can go from greenlight to a working VFX team in days, not weeks or months. No hardware to procure, no infrastructure to build, no integration work to sponsor. That's what we mean by the "easy button."

Who is it for?

Any production doing VFX, at any scale. Why would a production use this instead of building its own stack?

Two reasons. First, the integration work is already done, so you're not paying for (or waiting on) six tools to be glued together. Second, and more importantly, the platform encodes 25 years of real VFX operational experience: how shows actually run, where they break, and what artists actually need. How does it work?

There are two entry points depending on what your show needs. You can start with Hub and grow into Studio as the show scales. Same foundation underneath.

BIND Hub is the data management and vendor collaboration layer. Powered by FileRunner, it automates the submission, tracking, and distribution of shots between your vendors, your VFX production team, and editorial. It replaces the spreadsheets, manual transfers, and chased emails. BIND Hub also tracks more than just shots. Does it replace our existing VFX vendors?

No. BIND Hub sits between your production and your vendors, it doesn't replace them. Your vendors keep working the way they work. What changes is that shot submission, tracking, and delivery stop living in spreadsheets and inboxes. Everyone sees the same status, files move automatically, and your VFX production team spends less time chasing and more time producing.

Has this been proven on real shows?

Yes. The original 2025 integration put FileRunner and ClearView Flex inside the BIND platform as its file transport and review engines. It has since run on major film and television productions, including Netflix's Monster: The Ed Gein Story, which received seven nominations for the 2026 Emmy Awards. On that show, BIND Hub and FileRunner powered an automated review workflow handling up to 350 VFX shots per episode.

Weren't Sohonet and BIND already partnered? What's new?

Yes, since spring 2025, but that phase was a product integration. What's new is the move to a joint go-to-market offering: BIND's full platform, both Hub and Studio, is now available directly through Sohonet, backed by our enterprise sales, support, and 30 years of relationships with studios, streamers, and production companies worldwide.

For BIND, that means dramatically extended reach and a world-class team behind the technology. For Sohonet, it completes the picture: customers who already rely on Media Fabric and ClearView can now add a full VFX production environment to the same relationship, extending what we do from connectivity and collaboration into complete VFX delivery.

Who is BIND Studio?

BIND was founded by Jason Fotter, a 25-year visual effects industry veteran, and built by people who've run VFX on real shows.
